Beautiful Fall Food

Once upon a time, we had a neighbor who was upset that our gardens were close to their front yard. Our home was a corner lot and our side yard was adjacent to their front yard.  We gardened the side yard because it was the only place that received enough sunlight (we tried the roof first, but container gardening is not for us).  These folks became very frustrated with us and tried to explain how they were bothered that we didn't even have the decency to plant pretty gardens; unless we thought food was beautiful.  And that is where we had to have a parting of the ways.
There is such a food problem in our culture that we don't consider our food beautiful or a need for it to be beautiful.  We have gotten so far away from what food really is: the sustenance that makes up our entire being!  What we put into our body becomes us, shapes us and can in many ways define who we are, what we think is important, and how we choose to live this life we have.
Food is amazing, chlorophyll is amazing, the sun is amazing.  To not see the beauty in the swirl of collard leaves, the contrast in the depth of Kale, the brightness of a freshly dug carrot... well it seems to me that you might be missing a lot.
